Bürohaus Office Nord Hilti, Schaan, 2017—2021, Direct

Floating decks between office landscapes

The Office Nord building stands between the park and Feldkircherstrasse and terminates the new Hilti Campus on the north-west. Together with the surrounding buildings it creates an ensemble between the park, forecourt and Feldkircherstrasse.

At ground floor level the building has an arcade on the park side with meeting rooms and a central restaurant. The office floors have no internal columns and span between the building envelope and a middle zone with a central lightwell and are eminently suitable for open-plan offices flexibly furnished by the firm Vitra. The decks in the lightwell that are connected with each other are places to spend time and to compare notes informally.

The building envelope consists of prefabricated window elements and horizontal bands of front-hung profiled, ceramic elements in a natural shade of brown. The character of the interior is shaped by a robust exposed concrete primary structure, system-separated building services with suspended acoustic cooling sails, which also serve as reflectors for the indirect lighting, and ash veneer partitions.
